All of this is fascinating, but I am getting a ton of email saying someone has replied to this topic. How do I stop that happening?

Feature save your whole website in a Ultradev file, like mysite.mud (macromedia ultradev), and we can retrieve this file (open this file) and select language we want to generate, like asp, php, etc. Currently, we need to select language before we start developing our web site, like asp or php, and we cannot save our file in one development file. Once we developed our website in asp we need to re-develop our website again from scratch if we need our website in other language, like php or jsp. Try to make a reference to codecharge, www.codecharge.com. I personally like codecharge very much, but due to lack of support, like references, free resources, books, community, etc, I have to choose the ultradev, once ultradev have the php server behaviour developed by Interakt. Thanks to Interakt.

There are a lot of great ideas on this board. I don’t need ASP, PHP, or SQL. I do have some ideas that would save me a lot of time however. I will list them in order of importance.

1) A way to write <b>hyperlink titles</b> directly from the properties window. As it is now whenever I want to add a title to a Hyperlink I have to go to the code and enter title=“whatever”. This is one feature that FrontPage has that Dreamweaver does not, lol. Now that is bad.

2) The Ability to make a <b>flat HTML pages</b> for newsletters (email) or out of server sites like ebay. When I develop I use relative Urls for the images, etc..but when you email out or make an ebay listing, you need FULL path urls which is a real pain to do by hand...so I'd like to see a feature that would take my FTP/Network location, then take a copy of the HTML page, and fill it w/full path urls, so I can send out a newsletter easily or make an ebay listing.

3) Linux Compatibility please! Give Microsoft a good slap in the face <img src=../images/dwzone/forum/icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

4) A better FTP program would be nice.

5) Full HomeSite integration.

<font face='Arial'></font id='Arial'><font color=green></font id=green>I would like to have added CSS interpretation/integration. Rather than having the font aspects repeated every time I press return in the view screen, I want to be able to "clean-up" my code by removing redundant information. Perhaps even having the styles automatically sucked into a style sheet that Ultradev would interpret and write for me. A nice "preview" window that can be refreshed like my code view can would be nice to I can see any conflicts and resolutions without having to do it the long way now. Also the ability to hand write my changes in a code view is a nice option.

Also it would be nice to be able to write in functionality without having to create a "sitemap" first (if you don't your code gets erased in some cases). Rather than forcing things to happen in the order Ultradev needs them to happen, simply highlight the code (just like the yellow tags) indicating what WOULD need to be resolved if it was going to be published using Ultradev.

Why do things in such a bassackwards manner? The flow for creative content doesn't always come in a predefined workflow. I like starting with my results in design, then working my way backwards to "now how would I make that happen?".

Often to get the freedom in hand coding that I want I use another program like ACEHtml then open it in DW to be able to click on an element and visually reposition them.

And that brings up another wish... smoother repositioning that takes into account (ties in with the CSS desire above) the possibility of overlapping padding, margins, borders and will actually display things where you move them without requiring layers to hold them in place.

What's that you say? All these things are in Ultradev 4? Oh... well if that's the case, move long. Nothing to see here. /pulls out the book again to make sure...

I would like to see the following added:

* XHTML 1.0 compliant code generation. Include menu selectors for transitional, strict, and frameset. Elements and attributes presented to the designer as options change based on what was selected

* Code that will pass the W3C validator (assuming tables have a summary attribute and images have an alt attribute)

* Full PHP 4.x support

* Full ASP 3.x support

* Full Perl 5.x Support

* Full Python 2.x support

* Color coding (similar to Chami HTML-Kit; www.chami.com)

* Formatting options (similar to HTML Tidy; www.w3.org/People/Raggett/tidy/)

* Code clean-up with preview window before commit (similar to Chami HTML-Kit)

* Full support for MySQL 4.x and PostgeSQL 7.x

* Full support for CSS Level 1 and CSS Level 2. Use menu to select level you desire, and options windows change based on the level you have selected your code to support. All attributes to be available from menu.

* All CSS code generated must pass W3C validator

(I believe that it is very important for any HTML editor to create valid HTML/XHTML and CSS code)

There isn't going to be an UltraDev 5

According to the Macromedia Seminar I attended the other week in London the next install ment of Dreamweaver will fall under the MX lable.

The Reason behind this is to make it knowen that programs like Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks and Coldvision go together.
Fireworks and Coldfusion are also being redone and launched under the MX name

Cheers
Cole
